Truss Rod Adjustment Guide
1
Verify Tuning
Always tune the guitar to standard pitch before measuring or adjusting. Tension changes drastically affect relief.
2
Measure
Capo the 1st fret. Hold the string down at the last fret. Measure the gap at the 7th or 8th fret using a feeler gauge.
3
Adjust
Use the correct wrench. 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time. Right (clockwise) tightens (reduces relief), Left (counter-clockwise) loosens (adds relief).
WARNING
Never force the truss rod. If it feels extremely tight, stop immediately. Improper adjustments can cause permanent neck damage.
